Happy Place | Chicago Pop Up

Hey guys! Long time, I know. I’ve been adjusting to my new location and job. Every weekend I try to find something new to do in Chicago and this past weekend I visited the Happy Place. It’s a Pop Up exhibit with various rooms to take pictures in. Each room has a different backdrop for lots of great pics. I wore a red dress from Missguided and leopard heels from Steve Madden (of course).

It was a fun day full of pictures and rolled ice cream.

I hope you all enjoy these pictures I took at the exhibit and be on the look out for my next blog posts. There’s a lot in store for the end of summer!

I know I said I’d be back a while ago…

…But this time I’m really back! Hey guys. I’ve missed blogging so much. A lot has happened in the past couple of months. I spent my summer in Cupertino, CA interning at Apple as a TMCF x Apple HBCU Scholar. Since I was away from home and school once again and had just finished my junior year, I really took that time to focus on self-love and happiness. I wanted to take that time to really prepare for my last year of college and to come back as my best self. Now that I am in my senior year, I can finally start blogging again and sharing more of my life. Thank you all for sticking with me and more blog posts will be coming soon!

Founding Farmers |Washington, DC

I recently visited Founding Farmers restaurant in Washington, DC when one of my friends who had been studying abroad in Spain returned. The food was amazing! First, we ordered cornbread for the table which had bits of corn inside and a side of butter. For our meals, I enjoyed the “glazed cedar plank salmon” with broccolini and mashed potatoes and my friend had the rotisserie chicken. I started with a glass of sweet tea but it did not match my southern preferences so I ordered an amazing glass of lemonade. If you’re in DC, I definitely recommend visiting Founding Farmers for lunch/dinner.

Saturday Brunch

I usually have a full week of school and work but this week I managed to have some quality time to spend with my friends. We began our Saturday with brunch at H St Country Club here in DC. The prices were great for the amount of food you are served. Since the weather was nice, we enjoyed our brunch on the rooftop. Downstairs there was an entire game related floor with mini-golf. SO CUTE! I would definitely recommend this place for a rooftop brunch on a sunny day with friends. Check it out and be sure to let me know if you like it as well.

Top 4 Playlist Must Haves

2017 has already been a great year for music! Many artists such as The Migos, Future, Kehlani, Big Sean, Jidenna, Syd, and Sampha have released albums. As I was traveling this weekend, these are the albums I had in rotation, so it is safe to say these are my current favorites.

Migos- Culture

Who isn’t a Migos fan right now? Bad and Boujee has become an anthem and we all secretly wanted them to perform at the SuperBowl. Although some may believe this album is just hype, I can listen to every song, no skips. My favorite songs are “Get Right Witcha”, “T-Shirt”, and “Call Casting”. Add Culture to your playlist NOW!

Kehlani- SweetSexySavage

I have loved Kehlani for what seems like forever. She does not hold back so I know personally I feel a connection to her and her music. I love the self-love pieces on the album from Reyna Biddy which reassures you while listening that we all have felt this way at least once. I love the entire piece but my favorite song is “Distraction”.

Big Sean- I Decided.

With songs like “Bounce Back” and “Moves”, I could not wait for this album to be released. The skits and narrator make this album personable and relatable. It’s like a voice in the back of your head guiding you through the songs and Big Sean’s growth and progression as an artist. “Halfway Off The Balcony” is my favorite song from the album.

Chance the Rapper- Coloring Book

While Coloring Book is actually a mixtape and was released last year, it is an amazing piece! Chance the Rapper is on top right now! Chance took home three Grammy awards this year after winning for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance. My favorite songs are “Blessings”, “Juke Jam”, “How Great” and of course, “No Problem”.

What’s on your weekend playlist?

And so the adventure begins…

“Be Brave. Take Chances. Make it Happen.”

There are people that just dream and there are people that make things happen. I represent those of us who make it happen. While I have many dreams and aspirations, I have never lacked the will-power or determination to get these things done! So here I am, Sabria Jones or Sabria J as this site will reference me, with my personal blog that was once just a dream. This blog is for the go-getter girl, the girl who believes in herself and trusts her own strength, the girl who is struggling to find her way, and every girl in between.

Although this is a personal blog, I have also created it to be a powerful community platform for ladies to voice their thoughts, dreams, aspirations, and anything else that comes to mind. We are all hustling through this journey called life. I am just documenting as I go along.

So hey boss ladies, let’s chat!
