So I moved to California…

IMG_8338

Hey guys! I know, it’s been a while since I’ve last blogged but here’s why: I finished my junior year of college and have moved to the west coast for the summer! I was so stressed out my last weeks of college as I was completing the year as a Resident Assistant, wrapping up my last days at work, finishing finals, and trying to maintain my sanity. As I only want to put out great content, I decided to focus on finishing school and preparing for my big move to California and I would resume blogging after this was all done. So, I AM BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER. I am interning in the Silicon Valley as part of the Apple x TMCF (Thurgood Marshall College Fund) HBCU Scholars Program. I am extremely excited to be taking part in this opportunity and exploring everything Northern California has to offer. Thankfully, my mom and brother traveled to CA to help me get moved in. Now that I am here, I am ready to conquer the Silicon Valley. Prepare for travel posts, great restaurant finds, and of course outfit posts. Thanks for sticking by me throughout this journey and I can’t wait for you all to see everything I have planned for you.

Founding Farmers |Washington, DC

I recently visited Founding Farmers restaurant in Washington, DC when one of my friends who had been studying abroad in Spain returned. The food was amazing! First, we ordered cornbread for the table which had bits of corn inside and a side of butter. For our meals, I enjoyed the “glazed cedar plank salmon” with broccolini and mashed potatoes and my friend had the rotisserie chicken. I started with a glass of sweet tea but it did not match my southern preferences so I ordered an amazing glass of lemonade. If you’re in DC, I definitely recommend visiting Founding Farmers for lunch/dinner.

Soulful Sunday

Good Morning, Today I want you all to reflect. I have been watching a Youtuber by the name of FaceOverMatter (you should definitely check her out) for years. Recently, she has began to make videos about her relationship with God, not her religion. These videos have been AMAZING for me! If you have been reading my blog, you’d know that I have been on a Spiritual Journey, learning to better my relationship with Christ. This journey has not been easy. I have lost my way many times and felt as though God was not reaching me nor was I hearing His voice. While God speaks to everyone differently, something that helps me hear God’s voice is the power of other people’s tongue! I have been reading devotionals and watching my favorite Youtubers such as FACEOVERMATTER in order to listen to their experience with building their relationship! I had to understand that God would not speak to me in the same way he spoke to them, but I have learned so much more about growing in Faith through these tools. While this post isn’t to give you tips on your Spiritual Journey, I just want to assure you that everything you’re doing is worth it. I am so passionate about having Christ in my life and chasing my dreams with Him. My relationship with God is teaching me to love myself! I asked God to reveal my talents, flaws, and gifts. I am becoming just what God has destined for me to be. So on this Sunday, I push you to reflect on who you are and who you want to be. Allow God to speak to you today. Open up your heart to the Lord. What’s important is that you learn to heal and grow. Reflect on what God has promised you, and I am sure that this journey will work out for you too!

Be blessed lovelies.

Saturday Brunch

I usually have a full week of school and work but this week I managed to have some quality time to spend with my friends. We began our Saturday with brunch at H St Country Club here in DC. The prices were great for the amount of food you are served. Since the weather was nice, we enjoyed our brunch on the rooftop. Downstairs there was an entire game related floor with mini-golf. SO CUTE! I would definitely recommend this place for a rooftop brunch on a sunny day with friends. Check it out and be sure to let me know if you like it as well.
